Being dubbed the "Gemba Guru," was simply the result of winning a friendly competition in a Lean Six Sigma training course early in my career. It stuck, and so did my affinity for process improvement. After solidifying a career in manufacturing and automotive, a world immersed in ISO compliance and Continuous Improvement practices, I utilized my experience and education to (Gemba) walk a road less traveled, as a career freelancer.

After experiencing the chaos that accompanies the professional services industries, I developed a framework for a services-focused style of Gemba Walks. A repeatable, but scalable discovery process refined for uncovering and measuring value throughout the project and delivery lifecycle. The unique framework allows quick assessment of the relevant business landscapes and resources, which results in the business’s ability to quickly reference, evaluate and mitigate risks, redundancies and waste. Providing a clear understanding of the scope of the initiative allows management to be decisive and make informed choices throughout the journey.
